Project “Fundamental Rights and Data Protection in EU Law”

The project was implemented by EIPA – the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers (ECJL) in Luxembourg, in cooperation with KSSIP – the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution in Poland, NCA – the National Courts Administration of the Republic of Lithuania, CGAE – Consejo General de la Abogacía Española in Spain, and NRA – Naczelna Rada Adwokacka in Poland.

The aim of the project was to contribute to the effective and consistent application of EU law, particularly the implementation of mutual recognition instruments in the field of judicial cooperation, by strengthening a correct and coherent understanding of the fundamental rights environment within the EU area of freedom, security and justice.

This was achieved by developing sustainable training practices tailored to the needs of justice professionals across the EU, delivering practical training on the scope and application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (hereinafter – the EU Charter) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), from the perspective of the rights protected by these comprehensive documents, and presenting them within a context specific to the judicial system.
